Description: Here's an interesting issue of a century-old monthly newsprint-style magazine directed to the American homemaker who was handy with a needle and thread. While most of the illustrated articles focus on making your own clothes and household finery, there are also occasional fictional short stories and such.

Articles and stories include:

» As the Summer Wanes
» Household Embroideries
» Two Interesting Sets for the Library
» The Cablegram to Tom (fiction by George Hyde Preston)
» A Needlecraft Club
» A Page for the Little Folks
» Centerpieces in Madeira Embroidery
» Suggestions for Fall Costumes
» Novelties for Late Summer
» New Styles for Little Folks
» Garments for Street-Wear
» Gowns for Home Wear
» A Collection of Attractive Doilies
» Misses' and Children's Dresses
» Tapestry Embroidery
» What We Can Serve for Afternoon Tea
» Child's Bonnet in Hardanger Embroidery
» Trimmings in Crochet

The back page bears an ad for Cream of Wheat and there are dozens of smaller ads carrying a myriad of early 20th-Century product offerings.

Date: August, 1914 - Vol. V, No. 12

Size: approx. 15¼" x 10¾" - 24 pages

Condition: Very good, I'd say. The issue is complete and all pages still seem to be attached to the staples on the spine. A few of the pages are somewhat ragged along the edge. There's a small oil stain on the front page which penetrates (with diminishing intensity) to about page 12. At some time in the past, the whole magazine was folded in quarters horizontally. (Please see photos.)
