Description: Here's a nice vintage standard-sized matchbook cover from the Holiday Inn located on Lovers Lane Road (how convenient) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The outside has a fairly common Holiday Inn design in green, showing the giant sign and "THE HOLIDAY INNKEEPER", "YOUR HOST FROM COAST TO COAST", "LET US TELETYPE AHEAD FREE... FOR YOUR NEXT Holiday Inn RESERVATION".
The inside touts the hotel's "Complete Convention Facilities" and "Sensational Food & Beverage Served in "LAMP LIGHT" Atmosphere". It also gives the hotel's phone number in the old style as "SP 1-4400", along with what I think is a Telex number of "TWX MI 402".
Produced by Universal Match Corp., Memphis
Actual Size: approx. 2" x 1.5" (closed)
Date: Not dated, but that old-style phone number probably places it in the 1950s, or perhaps early 1960s.
Condition: Good, I'd say. The cover is only lightly soiled, but there's some damage to the striker strip area from careless removal of the staple that held the matches. There's also an additional set of staple holes which pass through the striker strip and both sides of the cover. (Please see scans.)
