Victorian Trade Card - MURRAY'S BUTTERINE - J. J. MURRAY & CO., Chicago
Large and very colorful old advertising card for "Murray's Butterine", manufactured by J. J. Murray & Co., of Chicago. Card features a couple of Japanese women, one holding a tea tray, and one in full kimono holding a fan. At the lower left corner is the number "209".
The back advertises the product, which is claimed to be "made from the finest grades of CREAMERY BUTTER, LEAF LARD, THE OIL OF BEEF SUET, CREAM AND MILK, SALT, AND VEGETABLE COLORING".
Size: approx. 7" x 4.5"
Date: Not dated
Lithographer: Not clearly identified, though the initials "u.t." appear at the lower right corner.
Condition: Very good, I'd say. The front of the card is only lightly soiled, while the back has some uneven toning. The edges and corners show light wear and there's a mild horizontal crease that runs along just above the top of the screen behind the women. (Please see scans.)
MULTIPLE ITEM SHIPPING DISCOUNT: I will ship up to 4 cards for the single base shipping charge shown. For purchases of more than 4 cards, the shipping charge will increase by just a small increment for every 4 additional cards.
