Description: Victorian Greeting Card - RAPHAEL TUCK & SONS - "EASTER JOYS BE THINE."
Here's a nice vintage Easter card featuring a couple large eggs resting in a wicker basket, surrounded by small pale blue flowers. There appear to be an artist's initials to the right of the basket, but I can't really make out the dark brown initials in the slightly lighter brown shadow.
To the back is glued an interesting professionally printed slip of paper indicating the card was sent (or given out) by an R. W. WOODRUFF of the ISLAND OF GUERNSEY for Easter 1884. Only the top 1/2" of the paper is actually glued to the card, so it is possible to read the entire A. R. HOWELL verse printed on the card. Beneath the Tuck ARTISTIC SERIES easel logo at the lower right corner, it reads "SERIES 843".
Size: approx. 4.375" x 4.375"
Date: Not dated (other than the date printed on the attached paper).
Lithographer: Raphael Tuck & Sons
Condition: Good, I'd say. The front of the card is generally quite clean, but the back has glue residue and scrapbook paper remnants all around the perimeter. The bottom edge of the card is slightly rippled and the attached paper is torn near the upper left corner. (Please see scans.)
