Description: Victorian Trade Card - LION COFFEE - Woolson Spice Co., Toledo, Ohio
Very pretty card offering "CHRISTMAS COMPLIMENTS". The front features a portrait of a pretty young blonde girl all dressed for winter. Behind her head is a holly branch with leaves and berries. Below the portrait is a winter scene with a horse-drawn wagon hauling what appears to be a Christmas tree through the snow to a farmhouse.
The back has one of their standard sales pitches, accompanied by a drawing of a lion's face, framed by tropical foliage and a pyramid. In the lower left corner is the number "12".
Size: approx. 7" x 4.75"
Copyright Date: 1890
Lithographer: Knapp & Co., N.Y.
Condition: Very good, I'd say. The card is lightly soiled, with slightly worn edges and corners. There's a large, sharp diagonal crease across the lower right corner, as well as a small crease across the lower left corner. (Please see scans.)
