Description: Embossed Victorian Trade Card w/ Fabric Inserts - CHOCOLAT POULAIN

Interesting and colorful French advertising card depicting a young man stepping out of a boat with a hat full of flowers (water lilies?) to give to a young woman.

The back has typical advertising (in French, of course) for the product.

What I find particularly interesting about this card is that it is layered, like a sandwich. The gentleman's red pants and the lady's blue skirt are actually pieces of thin fabric layered between the front and back of the card. Those sections of the front layer of the card are die-cut to reveal the fabric.

Size: approx. 4.5 x 2.875"

Date: Not dated.

Lithographer: Not identified.

Condition: Very good, I'd say. The card is mildly bowed, but appears to have only slight edge wear. The front is only lightly soiled, while the back has some light glue staining and a tiny piece of hard brown glue near the center. (Please see scans.)

MULTIPLE ITEM SHIPPING DISCOUNT: I will ship up to 4 cards for the single base shipping charge shown. For purchases of more than 4 cards, the shipping charge will increase by just a small increment for every 4 additional cards.
