Description: Victorian Trade Card - CHOCOLAT-LOUIT
Interesting vintage French advertising card for Chocolat-Louit which was apparently part of a series recognizing historical events or inventions. This one is captioned "BATEAUX A VAPEUR 1807" and shows a well-dressed couple looking down at a small model steamboat floating in a pool.
The back identifies this as number 7 in the series and states: "C'est en 1807, que Robert FULTON adopta aux Bâteaux, la machine de James Watt." In other words, Fulton's steamboat was created from Watt's steam engine.
Size: approx. 4" x 2.25"
Date: Not dated.
Lithographer: Not identified.
Condition: Good, I'd say. This card is somewhat soiled, with slightly worn edges and corners. There's a sharp horizontal crease running the width of the card at about the top edge of the pool. (Please see scans.)
MULTIPLE ITEM SHIPPING DISCOUNT: I will ship up to 4 cards for the single base shipping charge shown. For purchases of more than 4 cards, the shipping charge will increase by just a small increment for every 4 additional cards.
