Description: Here's an interesting historical item for both railroad and World War II militaria collectors. It's a "Furlough Ticket" on the Boston and Maine Railroad, good for round trip passage to and from Boston, Massachusetts, for active duty military personnel. It this case, the originating station stamped on the back of the ticket was Ayer, Massachusetts, located just outside Ft. Devens. This particular ticket only appears to have been punched for the trip "GOING" to Boston, but not for the "RETURN" to Ayer.
This little ticket is printed on a stiff card stock.
Actual size: approx. 1.25" x 2.25"
Date: September 4, 1943
Condition: Excellent, I'd say. The ticket is quite clean, with generally sharp edges and corners. The only evidence of use is the two punches in the "GOING" section of the ticket.
