Description: Victorian Trade Card - LION COFFEE, Woolson Spice Co., Toledo, Ohio
Very pretty card featuring a pair of well-dressed young girls in a meadow. One is fishing, while the other is carrying a rifle and holding a white rabbit
The back offers three different Picture Books ("Jack and the Bean-Stalk", "My First Alphabet", "The Three Little Pigs") "TO THE CHILDREN WHO DRINK LION COFFEE". A tiny number "8" is printed in the lower left corner.
Yep, a card with a gun-toting child and free "learn to read" books for coffee-drinking toddlers! Somehow, I don't think advertising like this would pass muster in this day and age!
Size: approx. 7" x 5"
Copyright Date: 1894
Lithographer: The Knapp Co. Lith, N.Y.
Condition: Good to very good, I'd say. The card is generally only lightly soiled, but the front has a small bit of tape residue near the lower left corner and the back has a mildly toned area at the upper right. The corners are slightly blunted, with a tiny crease across the lower left corner. (Please see scans.)
MULTIPLE ITEM SHIPPING DISCOUNT: I will ship up to 4 cards for the single base shipping charge shown. For purchases of more than 4 cards, the shipping charge will increase by just a small increment for every 4 additional cards.
