SERIES: Satire
This is one of 100 cards featuring humorous cartoons and advertising the "Ariosa" brand of coffee that Arbuckles' issued in the late 1880s. All the illustrations were originally published in either Puck, Judge, or Texas Siftings, three of the more popular satirical periodicals of the day. Most typically aimed their derision at blacks, country "rubes", or the Irish. This particular card was based on an 1887 Judge cartoon drawn by Albert Dodd Blashfield and features a courting couple being spied upon by the lady's small siblings.
The back shows the Arbuckles' factory buildings, dock, railroad cars, and a ship.

LITHOGRAPHER: Not identified
CONDITION: Fine, I'd say. This card is only very lightly soiled on the front with somewhat uneven toning on the back. There's virtually no wear to the edges and corners. (Please see scans.)
